Our Kalimba B11 ‘Melody‘ is made of solid American black cherry wood and meticulously handcrafted. The surfaces are treated and polished with natural oils and waxes. The 11 tines are precisely tuned to the scale of G-Major, so that a large number of well-known songs can be played. The ‘Melody‘ is also ideal for improvisation and intuitive playing.
We have positioned the long and short tines alternately to ensure ease of playing and in accordance with acoustic criteria. The six shorter tines have been bent so that their ends are raised above the level of the longer ones so that they can easily be reached by the thumbs. When playing from the low to the high tones, the five long tines are plucked alternately by the thumbs beginning in the middle and moving outwards - the right thumb begins on Tine No. 6 - then the six shorter tines follow, also played from the middle outwards, whereby the left thumb begins on Tine No. 5.

The Sansula - a patented innovation of the firm Hokema - is an innovative development of the kalimba (also known as Sansa or Mbira) which has its origins in southern Africa. The Kalimba is a metal-tongued instrument, played by plucking the tines with the thumbs. It is found in Africa in uncountable shapes and variations. Whereby the vibrations of the tines are amplified in different ways e.g. over a resonator, a hollow vessel such as a calabash or simply a piece of solid wood. The vibration of the Sansula are first `stored` in a wooden block and from there transmitted to a resonating membrane. The sound produced is far more prolonged than with other means of amplification. Due to the tuning - the octaves are adjacent - a wonderful, soft sound full of overtones can be easily coaxed from the instrument.

Melodischer reiner Klang
Den Beitrag über die Kalimba habe ich im NDR gesehen und mir daraufhin bestellt. Der Klang ist faszinierend. Die Einfachheit des Spielens ist schnell zu erlernen. Ich nehme es mit nach draußen und kann es überall spielen. Die Kalimba ist sehr wertig verarbeitet und die Videos dazu sind sehr gut gemacht, sodass das Nachspielen gut erlernbar ist. Danke. ?

Ein ausgezeichnetes Instrument
Die Verarbeitung ist sehr gut. Der Klangkörper ist wunderbar glatt geschliffen mit sanft abgeschrägten Kanten und liegt mit einem gut abgestimmten Gewicht sicher in den Händen. Die Klangzungen sind auf zwei Messingstäbe geklemmt, die fest mit dem Klangkörper verbunden sind und für eine ausgezeichnete Übertragung der Schwingungen auf den massiven Holzkorpus sorgen. Der Klang ist sehr schön! Schon beim leichtesten Anspielen erklingen reine präzise gestimmte und sanft klingende Töne. Bei festem Anspiel klingen die Töne natürlich nach und überlagern sich. Dann muss man die Zungen halt gezielt "anhalten". Übungssache.
Beigelegt ist eine kleine Spielenleitung mit Melodien und Akkorden, die mit ebenfalls beigelegten farbigen Magneten auf den Zungen markiert werden können. Sicher, der Preis ist vergleichsweise hoch, wenn man bedenkt, dass ein ähnliches Instrument im Internet auch für unter 40€ zu bekommen ist. Ich habe mich aber überlegt für diese Wertarbeit entschieden, bin begeistert und empfehle das Instrument weiter.

Wunderschöner Klang, gutes Handling
Das wichtigste vorweg: Der Klang der Kalimba ist wirklich wunderschön und glockenklar.
Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig und das Instrument liegt gut in der Hand.
Ich würde sie jederzeit wieder kaufen.
Der Versand erfolgte zügig und das Instrument kam sicher hier an. Dass die Produktion im Inland erfolgt und das Instrument nicht um die halbe Welt zu mir geschickt wird, finde ich zudem vorteilhaft.
Von meiner Seite eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Kalimba B17, Klang begeistert
Die Kalimba B17 habe ich vor ein paar Tagen erhalten, die Zustellung verlief schnell und tadellos. Es ist meine zweite Kalimba und der Klang hat mich von Anfang an begeistert, auch in den hohen Tönen!
An das größere Format habe ich mich schnell gewöhnt und möchte sie gar nicht mehr weglegen.
An dieser Stelle auch ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön an Conny Sommer für die genialen Kalimba-Liederbücher!! Mit eher rudimentären Notenkenntnissen erfreue ich mich an den Zahlen und Videos, mit deren Hilfe ich die Lieder erlerne. Schnelle Erfolge auf diesem qualitativ hochwertigen Instrument und der fantastische Klang begeistern mich immer aufs Neue. Kann ich sehr empfehlen!

Klingt richtig toll!
Die nicht ganz rostfreien, weil Federstahl-, Klangzungen klingen einfach super. Und zwar über den ganzen Tonumfang. In den hohen Tönen, wo es bei den meisten Billigkalimbas nur noch "Plopp" macht, ertönt ein glockenheller, klarer Klang mit schönem Nachhall. Zugegeben, das Teil ist mit über 600 Gramm nicht ultraleicht; ich merke aber beim Spielen keinen Nachteil.
